Women Infinite Inspiration · Laura Bartra

“I love decorating, setting up and organizing!”

Laura Bartra is an interior designer and if you are from Girona or Barcelona you have surely seen some of her work. She is responsible, for example, for the decoration that we can see in the premises of the König restaurant in these cities. Currently, he has started a new project of designing handmade lamps that we find very inspiring.

Hi Laura, tell us how your interest in creating your own lamps began?

Laura Bartra : I've been wanting to make lamps for a long time, but I couldn't find the time. In fact, it all came out of a need: I was looking for lamps for the premises I decorated and for my home, but I couldn't find any that I liked. And, if there are two ways, I always choose the difficult one. So I decided to make them myself!

You transferred this motivation to the professional field...

Laura Bartra : Yes, I created a brand called Lalamp and I'm having a great time! I really like working with my hands, I'm into handicrafts, it gives me peace and relaxes me.

How did you approach the creative process?

Laura Bartra : From the beginning, I was clear that I wanted to create lamps with natural materials and in a completely handmade way, so I started by mixing fabric pom-poms with wooden balls and the first design emerged. And, from that first proposal, I created two more models. I also work with a chromatic base of grays, beiges, pinks, some green and black.

Each model has a special name, right?

Laura Bartra : Yes, I called them Bet, Marco and Julieta, they are the names of my three children.

And what do you think is your source of inspiration to create these pieces?

Laura Bartra: I am inspired by objects that produce peace. And I'm inspired by good taste in general, whether it's in fashion or decoration... I'm not inspired by a specific person. I also really like going to France because of the colors of its houses, the stones, the point of decay, the fields and the trees...

We know that there are also markets there, like the ones you like to organize...

Laura Bartra : Yes, when I go to one of their markets, I get nervous because there are so many things that I like. Beauty makes me nervous. I love looking for antiques, pieces with history and personality. Oh, and I'm also captivated and inspired by flowers. I always have natural flowers at home. They are never missing.

How do you think this project helps to empower you or make you feel better?

Laura Bartra : Surrounding yourself with beautiful objects makes people's lives better. Surrounding myself with beauty and serenity fills me, I couldn't be in a place that I didn't like aesthetically. I need a house to be "lived in", but at the same time enjoy a certain grace. I need to feel good there, at home.

Elegance and warmth and that the house does not look like a simple catalog image. It's not an easy task...

Laura Bartra: I think "Lalamp" brings that warmth that is needed in homes. For me these lamps would be the equivalent of one of those antique pieces of furniture that I love so much because they have history and convey love. They are objects that make everyone feel good.

These days we are celebrating "Women's Week" at Roosik & Co and we want to ask you if you have found inspiration in any particular woman when working on your projects, either on a personal or professional level.

Laura Bartra: I am not at all a mythomaniac in this sense, the most important women in my life, great sources of inspiration, are: my mother, my sister, my group of friends and, of course, my two daughters Regarding my friends, I can tell you that as the years go by I realize how vital it is to have them close.

To finish… Do you like jewelry?

Laura Bartra: Yes!

And if you were a Roosik & Co jewel, which do you think would represent you best?

Laura Bartra: I like all of Jordi's jewelry because they remind me of the jewelry of yesteryear, made with such care and craftsmanship, and also because they exude a lot of personality and are not ostentatious. I like to see the motto of "less is more" reflected in all their designs.

Personally, I love the romantic style of these two rings… the Vitruvian Ring and the Tiara Crown Ring .

Laura conveys her sweet, warm, familiar, elegant and balanced personality in her pieces. We have been lucky enough to know her for years and she always evokes this calmness that is so necessary today and that we are so grateful for. She is one of the women close to us who inspires us the most while creating the jewelry of the Roosik & Co. collections.

Don't lose track of her from now on, you can follow her at @lalampbylaura
