tourmaline

properties

No gem is as rich in color as tourmaline: pink, red, yellow, blue, violet, black, multicolored or even colorless. It was the Dutch who introduced it to Europe, when they imported it in 1703 from Ceylon, to the Republic of Sri Lanka. There the villagers called it touramalli , which means "stone of mixed colors". From time immemorial, men and women have been attracted to this stone which they attributed extraordinary properties to. Tourmaline is said to be able to transform negative energy into positive and improve self-confidence.
It is a gem of great mineral complexity and is known by different names depending on its color: verdelite (green), rubellite (pink, red or violet), dravite (yellowish) or siberite (blue violet), among others .
Their resemblance to other precious stones has meant that throughout history, for example, tourmalines have been used pretending to be rubies. This is the case with different 16th century Russian crown jewels.
