A Café with an engagement gift

Marc wanted to surprise Ester by taking her to the New York Café in Budapest. They’d been in the city for several days, taking advantage of the Christmas holidays, and had heard it was “the most beautiful café in the world”. They had lunch there, accompanied by the live music of a pianist, and afterwards went up the stairs that lead to the lobby of the hotel Boscolo Budapest, which connect with the Café. There was no-one there, only a huge Christmas tree full of lights and decorations, and a light-coloured sofa.

Marc left for a moment to put the engagement ring inside a small box, to make it look even more special. When he returned to the lobby, he sat down next to Ester and gave her an envelope. Inside were photos of the most special times they’d enjoyed together over the four years of their relationship, in order from the most recent to the oldest. Marc held his breath while Ester looked through the photos one by one, her face lit up with emotion. When she reached the last photo, the day they first met, tears began to fall down her face. She felt something important was about to happen. And right at that moment, Marc took out the little box he’d been hiding behind his back and opened it, offering her a solitaire with a beautiful diamond: “Will you marry me?” Ester was speechless. After looking at the ring and then at Marc, at Marc and then at the ring, she managed to say: “Yes, I will”. The next day they returned to Girona with the most special souvenir of their lives…

A real story lived by Marc and Ester in the lobby of the Boscolo Budapest (Hungary), in December 2016.
